Autumn Makeup Tutorial

Hi loves! October, for me, is when autumn really starts. The leaves are getting brown, the weather is getting colder and it’s finally the month of Halloween! In honour of it being actually autumn now, I thought I’d do an autumn makeup tutorial. Whilst summer is for dewy, natural looking makeup for me, autumn is all about defining the features with brown tones on the eyes and lips. If you want to see my go to autumn makeup, just check out this tutorial!

As the weather gets colder my skin gets a little drier so I like to go for a more hydrating primer like the Nivea Men Post Shave Balm to add a bit of moisture, especially as I like to use a matte foundation. The Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation has a matte finish but gives a little bit of radiance to my skin, which it lacks in the colder months. I like to spend a bit more time putting colour into my cheeks so I like to add cream contour to my makeup routine. If you want to know exactly what I do I’m posting an ‘Easy Guide To Cream Contour’ soon so I’ll link that when it’s up. On top of that I’ll add a touch of blush, normally something deeper with more red undertones than pink. As my skin’s losing some of it’s summer tan I’ll stick to the pink/champagne toned highlights over gold, often going to a more subtle look unless it’s the evening.

For every day I like to keep the eyes quite simple, but I’ll take a neutral brown in the crease and darken up the outer corner with a deeper brown. I like to take a deep brown on a thin, angled brush along the lash line to add a bit more definition to my eyes, and if you want to intensify this could always take a deep brown pencil liner to tight line and add to the waterline. Whatever eye look I do, it’s almost always all matte in autumn. For fluttery, long lashes I add two layers of the Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes mascara on the upper and lower lash line.

In autumn I like to experiment a little more with lip colours, so for everyday I like to play around with brown toned nudes. This is the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Very Victoria, but a nice cool toned brown/grey is the Lottie London Slay All Day Longwear Matte Liquid Lipstick in Werk It. In the evening I like to play around with darker colours. The BareMinerals Statement Matte Liquid Lipcolour in OMG is a gorgeous pink toned berry or the Collection Moisturising Lip Butter in Perfect Plum is a more comfortable option. If I want to go really dark I go for the New Look Matte Lipstick in Americano as it’s a gorgeous deep brown, or the OCC Lip Tar in Anita as a very dark berry. With these colours I recommend a dark lip liner to keep the colours in place, like the Collection Lip Definer in Damson.

I hope you guys liked my autumn make up tutorial! I’ve not included every single product I used, but I will include everything in the Instagram caption here. There’s no right way to do your makeup, and no certain way your makeup routine has to change in the autumn months. This is just how I like to do my makeup and the colours I like to use in autumn. If you like this look I hope this post can help you achieve it! What’s your go to makeup look in autumn? Let me know in the comments below!

Thanks so much for reading, I love you all xxx
